I am a husband, father of 4, and an avid sports enthusiast.  Growing up I played recreational sports, but I was always a small, skinny guy.  I never worked out in a gym and never really had any interest in "exercising".  Two years ago my wife and I saw the P90X commercial on TV and she convinced me to start P90X with her.  I was very skeptical about the infomercial and I assumed that nobody in real life could get that ripped in just 90 days. I decided to commit 100% to the program for 90 days and see what could happen.  As you can see from my before and after photos, P90X really works!  In 90 days I was able to build muscle mass and develop a lean strong body.

After doing P90X and using Shakeology, i loved the program so much that I wanted to share it with other people, so I decided to become a Team Beachbody Coach.  Now I share my experience to help others to reach their health and fitness goals, and avoid some of the pits that I ran into along the way.

P90X2 Foundation Phase

Building Core Strength and Balance

P90X2 Foundation PhaseP90X2 is broken down into 3 Phases, building on the concept of muscle confusing that was introduced by Tony Horton in P90X.  However, P90X2 has taken muscle confusion to a whole new level.  P90X2 applies the latest in science and training techniques by using total body movements, incorporating multiple muscle sets in a single move.  For example, you don't just do dumbbell curls to work the biceps, but you do dumbbell curls while standing on 1 foot in Warrior 3 yoga pose.  This type of move engages muscles in the arms, back, legs, glutes, and core all at once.  Imagine the 1 arm balance pushups from P90X, but with your hands on medicine balls.  Many of the concepts in P90X2 are used by elite athletes to build muscle, improve flexibility and mobility, and prevent injuries.  If you are someone that got ripped doing P90X then you are going to love P90X2!

P90X Yoga and Stretching

I HATE YOGA!

That is what I often hear when I talk to my friends and other coaches who are doing P90X.  YogaX is always a hot topic.  Many guys who are doing P90X to get ripped and build muscle don't feel like they need to do the Yoga.  "Yoga is for girls" is something that I often hear.  However, nothing is further from the truth.  In fact most men are much less flexible than women making it that much more important to stretch to maintain and improve flexibility.

Personally, I feel like I am one of the least flexible people in the entire world.  When I try to touch my toes with straight legs, I am lucky to reach my ankles.  Because of this lack of flexibility, doing Yoga is a major challenge to me.  I have to modify many of the moves and feel very awkward and uncomfortable doing yoga.  I used to make every excuse in the book to to skip the Yoga because I just hated to do it.  I felt like it was a waste of time and something that I really did not enjoy.  I thought my workout time would be better spent with resistance training, building up my strength and muscle.
