P90X2 Foundation PhaseP90X2 is broken down into 3 Phases, building on the concept of muscle confusion that was introduced by Tony Horton in P90X.  However, P90X2 has taken muscle confusion to a whole new level.  P90X2 applies the latest in science and training techniques by using total body movements, incorporating multiple muscle sets in a single move.  For example, you don't just do dumbbell curls to work the biceps, but you do dumbbell curls while standing on 1 foot in Warrior 3 yoga pose.  This type of move engages muscles in the arms, back, legs, glutes, and core all at once.  Imagine the 1 arm balance pushups from P90X, but with your hands on medicine balls.  Many of the concepts in P90X2 are used by elite athletes to build muscle, improve flexibility and mobility, and prevent injuries.  If you are someone that got ripped doing P90X then you are going to love P90X2!

Healthy Eating for Better Fitness

One of the most important factors when trying to build muscle and get ripped is to eat the right foods.  When I was super skiny an not working out, I ate pretty much anything I wanted.  Cake, cookies, chips, soda... you name it.  Due to my high metabolism I didn't gain weight, but I always felt tired and unhealthy.  Of course it wasn't until I started cleaning up my diet that I realized what it was like to feel healthy and energetic.

Building muscle is highly dependent on eating the right foods to fuel your body.  Over the last couple of years, I have spent a lot of time searching for the foods that would help me to build strong, lean muscle and gain weight without a lot of bulk.  I have found a few key foods that I really like that provide great health benefits.

1. Chicken - OK, this one is probably pretty obvious, but it is also very important.  Chicken is high in protein and low in fat.  Protein is the building block of muscle and is the key to adding mass.  Plus chicken can be prepared in hundreds of different ways that helps to keep it interesting.

That is what I often hear when I talk to my friends and other coaches who are doing P90X.  YogaX is always a hot topic.  Many guys who are doing P90X to get ripped and build muscle don't feel like they need to do the Yoga.  "Yoga is for girls" is something that I often hear.  However, nothing is further from the truth.  In fact most men are much less flexible than women making it that much more important to stretch to maintain and improve flexibility.

Personally, I feel like I am one of the least flexible people in the entire world.  When I try to touch my toes with straight legs, I am lucky to reach my ankles.  Because of this lack of flexibility, doing Yoga is a major challenge to me.  I have to modify many of the moves and feel very awkward and uncomfortable doing yoga.  I used to make every excuse in the book to to skip the Yoga because I just hated to do it.  I felt like it was a waste of time and something that I really did not enjoy.  I thought my workout time would be better spent with resistance training, building up my strength and muscle.
